Signs Of Panic Attack Or Signs Of Heart Attack?

Signs of panic attack can be very similar to the common symptoms of a heart attack. This is the reason why many people end up in accident and emergency only to be told that it is a panic attack they have had and their heart is fine. So how would you know the difference between them? How can you recognise the signs of panic attack?

There are four common symptoms that when experienced combined, can lead an individual to believe they are undergoing a heart attack. These are

  • palpitations
  • sweating
  • shortness of breath
  • fear you are dying

While it is an enormous relief to be told that there is nothing wrong and your heart is perfectly healthy, it can still be a traumatic and immensely embarrassing ordeal.

Medical staff are used to dealing with this type of situation and understand the reasons why the signs of panic attack get confused with the signs of heart attack. Only a medical test will confirm or rule out a heart problem. Don't feel that you are the only person this has happened to. The right thing to do is to seek help immediately if you are any way unsure about the symptoms you are experiencing.
